Darren Sammy part of the World XI side which will take on Pakistan in a three-match T20 series, says he is looking forward to the experience of playing in front of Pakistani fans
Sammy, who has led West Indies to two World T20I titles, had also featured in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final.
"Everybody here has accepted that they are part of something more important that just their self. For me it's a place where I have great connection with and I am going back there where I played in the PSL final earlier this year," Sammy was quoted as saying in an ANI report.
He further said he is pleased to give Pakistan fans the experience of watching cricket on their home turf. "If we could be a part of history, with the greater purpose of helping the friends in Pakistan watch cricket again, it would be a wonderful thing," he said.
Sammy played for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL final. On the security aspect, he was quoted as saying in the ANI report, "I briefed them (players) about my experience in Lahore during the PSL final. We had the best security team there. For me, I also get to play with friends in the St. Lucia team and also those across the world, and be able to see again how passionate the Pakistan crowd is. We are all happy to be a part of it.”
The T20s between World XI side and Pakistan will be played on September 12, 13 and 15.
